The cornerstone of severe accident strategy Nordic BWRs is to flood the reactor cavity for long-term coolability an ex-vessel debris bed. As a prerequisite coolability, hot bed formed from fuel coolant interactions (FCI) should be quenched. In present study, coupling MELCOR and COCOMO codes realized with aim analyze quench process under prototypical condition BWR. this coupled simulation, performs integral analysis progression, thermal–hydraulic in flooded cavity. effective diameter particles investigated. discussion on bed’s shape shows significant effect propagation front, due different flow patterns. Compared standalone simulation predicts earlier pool saturation containment venting.
